Below you will find a list of all or most of the quests in the Lands of Arda. Expand the quests for details and further sub/related quests. The following content may contain quest descriptions, future journal entries, and rewards so proceed with caution if you'd like to avoid spoilers.


Mithlond - Basement Dwellers

Clear the basement of the inn in Mithlond of an infestation of rats.

The mage of Mithlond has requested that you retrieve a yellow and a green alchemical powder. They can be located in the caves around Mithlond.

Mithlond - No sense of humor

Araheil, Captain of the Lindon Guard has asked you to locate the nuisance in Harlindon. Someone is jestering with deadly traps. A hobbit called Thoddo might now some more. He should be found near the Healers. I guess i will talk with him before traveling south to find out what is going on.

  • Thoddo told he saw two Hill trolls setting a trap for a Cave troll. Latter is now angered. I should try to find them and slay the beast so they won't harm anyone else.

Mithlond - Rogue's Key

Thoddo Proudfoot, a shirean hobbit and a rogue has asked you to retrieve a map of Fornost from the mage in town.

Mithlond - Shipwright's errands

Lord Cirdan has asked you to visit Emyn Beraid and the Elostirion tower to see whether the Palantír is safe. You should head west until you reach the Tower of Elostirion.

  • After your visit in Elostirion, Lord Cirdan has now asked you to find out what is happening in the Imlad Celeglin and most notably the Celeglin Barrows within the vale. The vale can be found north of Town. The local shopkeepers and the librarian might know some more details.
  • You have returned the peace to Celeglin Vale by banishing Gaurithoth the Abhorrent the fallen Numenoréan who had turned in to a wraith called. He was working under the Witch-King himself.
  • Now that you know the Palantír is intact, you should head back to see if Cirdan has some proper task for you.

Mithlond - The lost school book

Lord Cirdans daughter, Ciranna Cirdan, lost her school book and whants you to find it for her. She was playing by the farmers house, in the library and near one of the caves in Mithlond, so you might want to search those places.

Blue Mountains - Dúnedain Outlaws

I have agreed to hunt five Dúnedain outlaws through the Blue Mountains region. The Noldor Elf named Vannde has asked me to return proof of my success to her.

Blue Mountains - Radni's Quest

A dwarf named Radni has asked me to locate dwarven runes and bring the items back to him. In exchange, he will give me a recipe for something that will help me to endure elemental extremes. I am to carry the recipe to someone named Qorthi in the Iron Mines of the Blue Mountains.

Bree - Helping the Farmer

The farmer of Bree needs to return to his farm, but the bandits are raiding his land. Persuade the local bandit leader to stop this.

Bree - Tom Bombadil

You have spoken with Tom Bombadil, and he has talked of a nasty tree in the far northern section of the Old Forest that has a bow staff.

Trollshaws - Troll Hunting

A dwarf called Rugnar sent you on a mission of defeating seven members of a certain troll family residing in the Trollshaws.

Rivendell - Find the Fledgling

Ruinith, the herbalist of Rivendell, asked for my assistance in locating an eagle fledgling. I will begin my search in the Trollshaws.

Gondor - Lighting the Beacons

Thorongil, a Captain of Gondor has asked that you travel up into the White Mountains and light 5 of the war beacons to save Gondor. He mentioned the entrance was in the Eastfold of Rohan and that oil and flint would be needed to set the fires. He also said the wood woses also found in the Eastfold may offer some guidance.

  • On my journey to light the beacons I encountered one of the watchmen near a lodge. Although his memory didn't seem to be in working condition he did have some useful information....I hope it is accurate. He informed me that there are 2 beacons to the east and 3 to the west. But, storms and orcs have been plaguing the area, this task will not be simple. To make matters worse he said the bridge over the ravine nearby had been knocked out by orcs. I will have to find some way over it.
  • I have lit 1 of the 5 beacons of Gondor.
  • I have lit 2 of the 5 beacons of Gondor.
  • I have lit 3 of the 5 beacons of Gondor.
  • I have lit 4 of the 5 beacons of Gondor.
  • I have lit the fifth and final beacon of Gondor. I should return to Captain Thorongil in the high keep right away.
  • My mission to activate 5 of Gondor's war beacons was a success. I returned to Captain Thorongil and informed him. As a reward he gave me a small crystal. It is said this crystal contains some of the light of the tree of Gondor when it was at the height of its beauty.

Find the Drúedain Hunters

On my mission to light the beacons of Gondor I encountered a Drúadan wood Wose named Ghân-buri-Ghân. He offered me aid in the form of flint to start the fires. In return I agreed to find three missing hunters that were lost in the mountains not long ago. I should find them and return with proof to their leader.

  • I have located the first of three hunters that Ghân-buri-Ghân asked me to find. He has given me a symbol that I may return to him as proof of my action.
  • I have located the second of three hunters that Ghân-buri-Ghân asked me to find. He has given me a symbol that I may return to him as proof of my action.
  • I have located the last of three hunters that Ghân-buri-Ghân asked me to find. He has given me a symbol that I may return to him as proof of my action. I should return shortly to inform him.
  • After finding the three hunters and returning to Ghân-buri-Ghân he thanked me and rewarded me with magical arrows crafted by the Drúedain.

Help the Giant Eagle

On my journey through the White Mountains I encountered a giant Eagle. I offered to help him by returning his egg to its nest on one of the eastern peaks if he would aid me in cross the ravine which he gaurds from orcs.

  • I have placed the egg safely in its nest. I should light the beacons in the area and return to the eagle.
  • I returned to the Giant eagle and informed him the egg was safe in its nest. He rewarded me with a key that would allow me to cross the ravine. He also warned that once across it there would be no way back...

Gondor - Reclaim Osgiliath

Lord Denethor the Steward of Gondor tasked me with a mission to reclaim Osgiliath for Gondor. How one person is expected to stand alone against the armies of Mordor and retake an entire city is a mystery to me. He did promise reward if I somehow managed this. It is also known Faramir, Denethor's son was last sent to Osgiliath though his current status is unknown. Denethor reacted strangely when I mentioned his son, perhaps it would benefit me to find the man.

Other Journal Entries

  • I have found Captain Faramir in Osgiliath. He has set up a defensive position in a ruined house while he plans how best to handle his grave situation. He asked me to speak with one of his men downstairs in the basement of the house to get a better idea of the seriousness of the situation.
  • I spoke with the brick layer in the basement of the house as Faramir requested. He explained that the orcs were tunneling under the river and were on course to break through in the basement of the house. He said he required more bricks and mortar but I don't know how long any reinforcement will hold. I should report back to Faramir right away.
  • Faramir explained that reinforcing their position would only slow the orcs for a short while. He said the only way to really set them back long enough to get more soldiers to retake the city would be to destroy the tunnel the orcs are digging. He told me the orcs have a command post set up in the courthouse building on the other side of the river. I should go there and do whatever I can to sabotage their tunnel.
  • I was able to find and destroy two stone pillars supporting the end of the tunnel the orcs were digging. I barely escaped the resulting collapse with my life. I should report back to Captain Faramir immediately.
  • I gave my report to Faramir explaining how the tunnel has been destroyed. He thanked me and said the orcs would be set back many days. He recommended I report back to Lord Denethor who would reward me for my efforts.
  • For a brief moment I could see love and happiness in the eyes of old Lord Denethor when he heard his son was alive and well...it quicky changed to contempt for me. He seemed angered that Osgiliath is not once again firmly under his control, but regardless he awarded me the key to the city. He said it would allow me to complete my mission though I do not know what more I could do. Anyway this key should be useful in passing through the city.

Osgiliath - Heal Wounded Soldiers

I encountered a Gondorian soldier while in Osgiliath searching for Faramir and a way to rid the city of Orcs. He asked me to find a high quality healing kit to aid his wounded men. If I can locate such a healing kit I should bring it to the soldier in the ruined house in Osgiliath.

  • I gave the healing kit I found to the Soldier in Osgiliath so that he could heal his men. He seemed thankful for the help though had nothing to offer in return.

Osgiliath - Free the Prisoners

While on my mission in Osgiliath I encountered two prisoners being held by the orcs in the courthouse. The court Justice asked if I could help free them by finding the key to their cell. He said that the commander of the forces in the courthouse would have the key.

  • I recovered the key to the cell doors and gave it to the Justice so that he and the prisoners may escape.

Gondor - The Palantir of Osgiliath

I spoke with the Librarian in the High Keep of Minas Tirith. She seemed alarmed when I showed her the book I had recovered from Osgiliath. She requested I return in some time so that she may study the book and learn what she could from it.

  • After speaking with the Librarian again she discovered some intersting information. She said the book explained that the lost Palantir of Osgiliath had been recovered by Mordor and that it needed to be reclaimed. She asked me to go into Mordor and recover this thing though she was not entirely sure where to look. To me this sounds like madness but she insisted I must try, explaining that it would be at the top of a tower in Mordor but definately not Barad-Dur or Minas Morgul. This should be interesting...I suppose Cirith Ungol is as good a place to begin as any.
  • At last I have reached the top of Cirith Ungol tower. I have come against my better judgement but it appears the risk has paid off...the Palantir is here. I will take it back to the Librarian so we can attempt to figure out what to do with it. It seems incredibly powerful but is almost definately just as dangerous. I had better not fool around with it.
  • After returning to the Librarian with the Palantir she explained that it must be put somewhere safe out of the reach of Mordor's forces or the temptation of men until a time when it can be safely used again. She requested I use a magical key she gave me to breach a seal of magic to enter the tower atop the courthouse in Osgiliath. She said that is where it belonged and that is where it should stay. She was also very clear that she did not want me to mention any of this to Denethor...something about corruption?
  • When I explained the business of the Palantir and the Librarian in the Keep to Denethor he seemed very eager to know more. He said if I could recover the Palantir then perhaps it could be used as a weapon against Sauron, to see into his mind. Although that doesn't sound like a very smart idea to me...he did offer great reward if I bring the Palantir to him...it is tempting.
  • I have given the Palantir to Denethor and in return he has offered me a key. He claims this key will gain me entrance to the Path of Kings, the tombs of all the dead kings of Gondor. The wealth stored in such a place must be vast indeed.
  • I have decided to return the Palantir to its rightful place atop the tower in Osgiliath. It will be safe here from those who would use it for evil. I should return to the Librarian and tell her it is finally done. She did mention something about a reward as well.
  • I returned to inform the Librarian that the task is done and the Palantir is safe. She thanked me and as a reward offered me a key. She explained that this key would grant me access to the Path of Kings in Minas Tirith, saying it was a tomb of the past kings of Gondor and that great knowledge is stored there that I may learn from.
  • I have found an interesting book in a secret room in the courthouse of Osgiliath. Perhaps the librarian in the High Keep of Minas Tirith knows something about this.

Grey Mountains - Ando-Anca Key

Grey Mountains - Nali's Request

Nali the dwarvish scholar is looking for some hint to the true might of the dwarvish kings of the Grey Mountains. He would most like to see an ancient breastplate and axe that were lost long ago.

  • You have located the dwarvish armor and axe that Nali was looking for. He is using the inscriptions and combat markings on them to fuel his debates with Sirion the elf.

Grey Mountains - Parcho's Request

Parcho has requested that you locate an ancient manuscript that will help him desipher an inscription in an ancient temple. He has also asked for you to help locate a dagger that was once owned by one the dwarvish kings.

  • You have returned the manuscript and dagger to Parcho. His is very happy about this and is off studying its contents to determine what they mean for the lands. You need to speak with him again once he has had some time to research.
  • Parcho has used information found in not only his new manuscript and dagger, but also the armor and axe that Nali had wished to locate to create a magic ice pick that should act as a key. This ice pick was created with a gland from a dragon, and a tooth from the ancient dragon Glaurung.

Grey Mountains - Sirion's Request

Sirion the elven scholar residing in the Grey Mountains lodge wants to find out what happened to his acolyte, and what he was looking for. He also is looking for a gland from a dragon to prove to the dwarf that the rocks were the fall of the dwarvish kings.
