This heavy weapon served well in Gimli's hands in the Fellowship of the Ring, though it was not the greatest of the works of arms in Erebor, where Gimli spent his youth after 2941. It was a simple affair: the hammer faces were of mithril engraved with constellation of Durin's Crown, and the shaft was of braided steel wrapped in leather.
