The Altar to Aule lets you refashion an item into the current server version of that same item. It is mainly useful if you have an older copy that needs to be brought up to date.

How to use it

  • Go to Rhovanion - Iron Hills - The Great Dwarven Hall.
  • Speak with the dwarf merchant beside the altar to get a Mithril offering.
  • Keep the offering in your inventory, open the altar, and place the item you want refashioned inside.
  • The altar removes the old copy and puts the refashioned version into your inventory.

If you need help finding it, open the World Map and search for Altar to Aule.

What carries over

  • Stack size is preserved.
  • Charges are preserved.
  • Identified items stay identified.

Limits and caveats

  • Empty containers before placing them inside the altar.
  • If you place a container that still holds items, it is returned to you unchanged.
  • If the altar cannot refashion an item (e.g. it no longer exists), the item is returned.
