Desert Heat is a survival system used in hot regions. If you stay out too long without water, your character builds heat and starts suffering penalties.
How it works
- Heat builds over time while you are in a heat zone.
- The timing varies by area, but usually rises in regular short intervals.
- Some areas reduce heat buildup at night.
Heat stages
| Stage | What happens |
|---|---|
| Early heat | You start getting thirst warnings. |
| High heat | You get stronger warnings and visual fatigue effects. |
| Heat exhaustion | You take ongoing penalties to movement and stats, plus periodic damage. |
Water bottles
- Drink a Water Bottle to reset heat buildup.
- Drinking returns an Empty Water Bottle.
- Use an empty bottle near a valid water source to refill it.
- If no source is close enough, the refill fails and the empty bottle is returned.
