Reincarnate bonuses are now applied permanently under a single effect icon, so casters stop losing spell slots. Plus Ioun stone, Sarn Feanaur, and Armor of Faith fixes.
Reincarnate bonuses are now applied in a more permanent way. Death, respawn, resting, etc. should no longer remove/reapply reincarnate bonuses, except as a repair fallback if the bonuses are missing or stale. For example, casters should no longer lose spell slots due to fluctuating reincarnate stats.
All reincarnate bonuses will now show as a single "Reincarnate # Bonuses" effect icon by your character portrait, instead of one icon for each "category" of effects, which will reduce effect icon clutter.
Magic Weapon and Greater Magic Weapon restored to base NWN functionality due to game engine limitations with applying enhancement bonuses to non-melee weapons (e.g. ammo)
Fix for portrait detection in the Player Journal incorrectly stating a missing portrait exists on the server
Fixes for the Ioun stone "relog" bug for the regen and AC stones
Description fixed for the AC stone as well, to properly indicate the bonus is dodge AC, not deflection. Exchange at the Altar to Aulë required for pre-existing versions.
Store gold in the Bank of Arda and change your soundset and portrait from the Player Journal. Plus bolt and bullet forges, spell fixes, and a new AI system.
All character portraits are now properly organized on the server, and an additional download from the website is no longer required.
Many portraits were purged in an effort to significantly reduce the overall number of low-quality portraits. Various base game portraits upgraded to HD versions.
The Player Journal will now indicate whether your portrait is one that exists on the server, i.e. other players will see it too without having to download the portrait locally to their NWN Documents > 'Portraits' folder.
Optional, but recommended: delete the contents of your NWN Documents > 'Portraits' folder if you wish to only see portraits that exist on the server during character creation. Note that this may also impact the custom portraits you see on other servers, single-player campaigns, etc.
Soundsets:
Various bug fixes and improvements in existing soundsets + several base game/campaign soundsets disabled
Added ~25 additional soundsets from NWN2, selectable at character creation and via the Player Journal
If the fire half of the damage is reduced to 0 by Reflex/Evasion, the divine half of the damage will still apply (previously resulted in 0 total damage)
Now correctly applies the caster level cap at 25d6 damage (+5d6 over base game)
Conjuration Shadow Mage Armor will no longer stack Dodge AC with itself
Epic Spell: Leech Field: the temporary hit points gained will now refresh each round to prevent excessive snowballing of the effect
Fix for the Snilloc's Snowball Swarm spell not working correctly on scrolls for casting, learning, etc.
New AI system added. The previous "new" AI system ended up having too many issues/bugs, so we're trying out yet another AI system. Here is the current list of areas using this new system (not including a few minor/nearby areas that spawn the same NPCs):
Pelepelplû + Tenolkachyn
Chey Sart (still inaccessible for now, but some mobs spawn in external areas + Pelepelplû)
Ered Harmal / Arentaurr
Mystic Forest of Ammu Bâj
Sea Lord's Isle (all areas/dungeons)
Stronghold of the Tirdae Kalon
Please continue to test and give feedback! Maybe we'll end up using a combination of these systems depending on how it plays out...
Praying chances moderately increased for non-Druid/Cleric/etc. classes
Caravans are now all marked "Plot" and part of the Merchant faction
Bards can now use the research desk in the Arcane Enchanting Hall, in addition to Wizards/Sorcerers
Terrifying Rage "fear" effect duration slightly reduced from 2d3 to 2d2 rounds. "Shaken" effect remains at 2d3 rounds. (Both up from 1d3 in the base game.)
All campsites marked infinite stock in all merchants
Added a new "Campsite Kit of the Scout" which features 50 charges of single-use campfires. This is sold at the same ~7 merchants who sell the larger "Campsite Kit of the Woodmen" version.
Buffs on ammo will now properly be removed on rest
Fix for the Lorien smith buying items for negative GP
Fix for the Dark Castle Interior tileset that caused mobs/players to get stuck in walls/ceilings
Fix for orc models that didn't show VFX from spells, effects, etc.
Many fixes to spell scrolls from merchants, loot, etc. (names, descriptions, class limitations, etc.)
A new Wraith Backlash for the Wraith Robe, a Dol Guldur makeover, fewer dungeon keys, and smarter AI in more areas. Plus Barbarian rage buffs and a Circle of Bones rework.
Added custom on-hit property "Wraith Backlash": each attacker suffers 1d6 negative damage the first time they hit the wearer. Further hits from that same attacker increase the backlash by +1d6, up to 6d6.
Healer's Shroud: replaced the now non-existent mass cure wounds spell with Heal 1/day.*
Duration increase for poison weapon effects from misc. items, from 18 seconds to 5 minutes
Made the Old Rusting Dagger (ORD) icon/model more legible in the inventory panel
Inventory legibility of many custom item icons improved
In addition to the Stronghold of the Tirdae Kalon, the following areas/mobs now use the new smarter AI. Please test and give feedback, so we can tweak as needed!
Pelepelplû + Tenolkachyn
Chey Sart (still inaccessible for now, but some mobs spawn in external areas + Pelepelplû)
Epic Spell: Greater Time Stop: now removed from Cleric spells/feats. Clerics who already have the feat may be able to continue casting it, but will no longer be able to select it on re-level.
Creeping Doom: movement speed decreases will no longer stack with other Creeping Doom casts
Epic Spells Animus Blast/Blizzard: Oathbreaker summons will now properly unsummon on rest, death, and exit
Circle of Bones: instead of fixing the immobilization factor of this spell, which we felt would make it too inconvenient to be usable, it has been rebalanced as follows:
Increased to a level 4 spell
Damage reduced to 1 point every 2 caster levels for both damage types
Fixed a bug that caused enemies with immunity to fear to automatically fail the saving throw with no roll
The actual "fear"/paralyze effect will now only affect individual enemies up to once per instance of Terrifying Rage, to prevent spamming/abuse via kiting. The "shaken" debuffs to attack and saves will continue to work as usual. Subsequent casts of Terrifying Rage will still continue to work on the same enemy as well.
Several inaccuracies fixed in the description
Other various fixes for feat descriptions and scripts
Fixed a bug that caused the rod to consume the first prepared version of a spell over the original metamagic cast on the rod. It will no longer fall back to other/non-metamagic versions of spells.
Fixed a bug that caused various "subradial" spells to not work when casting the rod, e.g. Magic Circle vs. Alignment, Energy Immunity, etc.
Fixed a bug on the Sarân Battle Dress model causing client-side crashes:
Existing sets on players will automatically be updated to the newest version
This should also fix the crashes in Pelepelplû
Possible bug fix for armor from Moon-fortress mobs causing client-side crashes. Needs testing.
Rohan quest fixed: the journal now works and the quest has an XP reward
Fixed a bug where possessed creatures could trigger lore entry popups/rewards
Fix for the bank tab in Player Journals getting out of sync with persistent storage
Fixed a bug that caused larger map tile exploration databases to error and print in the combat log during save
Items sold to merchants will no longer be instantly destroyed. Instead, merchants will clear their inventory ~8 hours after items are sold to them, allowing for a buyback period:
If any character belonging to the account of the original seller buys back the sold item, the cost will be the same as the original sold price. This price is shown when hovering over the sold item in the merchant, and only applies to the original seller.
Other players can also purchase these items at the full/standard store pricing
Stackable items that merchants sell with infinite stock will continue to be "destroyed" and re-purchasable at standard pricing
These items will not persist through resets, regardless of the buyback period
Shared Imports access: you can now continue to browse and deposit items in the Shared Imports crate even after exceeding the 3-item withdraw limit per reset
Reincarnate damage fix for the following spells. Please continue to report any offensive spells that you have good reason to believe may not be getting reincarnate damage applied.
Cloak model fixes for NPC mobs with large hit boxes/hover areas
Phenotypes (e.g. combat animations) that do not support cloak animations will now show a warning message when selected in the item customizer menu, with a recommendation to visually hide the cloak via the same menu
"Key to the Tower" removed from Scorba, and the stairs up in the Orc Holds within the Fortress of Carn Dûm are no longer locked
Arda moves to a new server running NWNX for better performance, and NUI Quickslots add feats and actions. Plus self-service character deletion and Moria fixes.
Arda is now running on a new server machine. We will follow up in the coming days with more details and a donation link for those who feel so inclined to contribute (no worries if not!)
The server is now running the NWNX plugin, which will allow for more expanded scripting functionality and possibilities, such as several of the changes below in this update, and more to come.
Lots of performance improvements overall, both hardware and software
Fixed mobile detection: quickslots will not auto-open on devices the server detects as mobile. They will also not open via chat command on mobile. Please report if the slots are still appearing on your mobile device, or if you think your device is being incorrectly flagged as mobile.
Container of Arda spawn percentages tweaked a bit to promote more randomness
Encounters from the container will now factor in party size and strength in the area, which may increase the chance of more difficult spawns if certain thresholds are met
Four new forge items, faster default movement, and the first NUI Quickslots. Plus capped death penalties, Paladin buffs, and smarter AI in the Yellow Mountains.
The default movement rate for all players has been raised, and is now effectively the same as boots of travelling/haste by default.
The movement speed cap for normal classes (non-monk) has been raised slightly, and they will still see a small (~10%) speed bonus from roads, boots, or haste.
Monk movement speed cap remains unchanged and still stacks with roads, boots, and haste.
New custom NUI Quickslots. They will open by default on your first login (on non-mobile devices). Afterwards, they will remember the open/closed state for each character.
Toggleable via the !quickslots command.
This initial version works with class, domain, and epic spells only. Items, feats, and other unique functionality will be added in a future update.
For the most part, the targeting should mimic spells as if used from the default quickslots. Please test and report any bugs or incorrect behavior!
Grace period for reduced death penalties increased from level 25 to 30 (non-reincarnate)
A cap of 20,000 gold has been set for the death gold penalty for non-reincarnates
A cap of 4,000 XP has been set for the death XP penalty (after any reincarnate adjustment)
A good number of mobs were incorrectly being scaled by the scalar script more than they should have been in Eriador and other regions. This is now fixed. More scalar script adjustments are coming soon to help with overall scaling and difficulty of mobs, particularly for newer and/or lower-level players.
Fixes for several "disabling" spells that had long durations, even after NPC death. The following should now expire at or shortly after caster death:
After a server reset, players being returned to their last location (e.g. logged back in shortly after a reset) will always be given temporary sanctuary, even if the area isn't explicitly marked as a "hostile" area.
Identify price lowered at more starting-area merchants
New database setup which should improve performance when loading/viewing storage via the journal.
This also lays the groundwork for player bank integration with the website. More details in the future!
The removal of spaces from several item names was previously causing some duplicate items to appear as separate entries. This is now fixed: if the only difference is whitespace, they will be grouped as the same entry.
Smaug and Camring (The Healer) now have a chance to spawn a Container of Arda on death.
The first patch notes we kept, builds v1002 to v1338, from the move to NWN: Enhanced Edition. Arda has been running since 2002, but older patch notes aren't available.
