Arda v1375

Transfer chests and Shared Imports now persist across resets, storage leaves beta, Divine Protection is reworked, and encounters from Bree to Isengard are rebalanced.

StorageItems & LootInterface & QoL

  • Transfer chests and Shared Imports containers now persist across server resets
    • Limit of 3 withdrawals from the Shared Imports container per server reset (we'll adjust as needed)
  • Player persistent storage is out of beta and safe to use. The database and transaction logs are backed up daily in the unlikely event of a failure.
  • "Trash cans" added to Bank of Arda vaults: regular barrels that clear on server reset
  • Plot flag removed from these items, so they can now go in player persistent storage, transfer chests and Shared Imports (existing versions must be exchanged at the Altar to Aulë):

SpellsSpells

  • Greater Heroism no longer makes the target enter combat
  • The level 2 Cleric spell "Righteous Might" is now correctly named Divine Protection and reworked:
    • Old: level 2 spell, +1 to AC and saves, party buff
    • New: level 8 spell, +4 to AC and saves, still a party buff (hence level 8)
    • Can no longer be stacked (the reason for the changes)
    • Open to feedback

Modified EncountersMonsters & AI

  • Gwathló and Greenway bandits:
    • Greenway bandits' longswords changed to shortswords
    • Archers' stats raised to match the CR of the melee bandits
    • Gwathló archers' stats raised to match the CR of the Gwathló warriors
  • Tharbad thieves, fighters and clerics got a small level raise, so they're a challenge after Bree
  • Bruinen (and Yfelwood) zombies and suicide zombies traded their Stoneskin for more HP: higher CR, same challenge
  • Goblin Caves: the high guards' weapons swapped to tone down their damage (no more ~80 crits), and goblin names now include some lore
  • Moria orc shamans and archers got a level raise (archers also got more HP) to match the CR of the warriors
  • Moria goblins got lore names, were raised in level to match the CR of the orcs, and had their gear slightly adjusted
  • Moria/En Udanoriath ghasts and skeleton warriors had their damage toned down a bit
  • Isengard orcs are now all around the same CR, mini-bosses have unique names, and all orcs are now called Sharak-Hai. Isengard is slightly harder than before.
  • Tûl Harar True Flame priestesses raised to around the warriors' level, and both had their shields swapped to Harad ones
  • Valsul (Wizard of Swords) has a different blade model

Models & VisualsItems & LootMonsters & AI

  • Most new custom LotR weapon & shield models now have normal and specular maps for more modern lighting. The normal maps were made from images, so models may look more or less pixelated; they can be removed if desired and will be developed further.
  • New models (items need a swap at the Altar to Aulë):
  • Many new creature models added. Please report any boss/mob with the wrong appearance.
  • Witch-king model hopefully fixed now

CompanionsFeatsMonsters & AI

  • Animal companions and other summons now get a significant boost if you focus on the caster class (Ranger/Druid). The Badger and Brown Bear are updated so far.
  • Blackguard and Shadowdancer epic summons received a significant boost:
    • Epic Fiendish Servant summons different fire demons based on Blackguard level. At Blackguard level 25, the summon is a Balrog.
    • The Shadowdancer Epic Shadowlord is now a Dindae (S. "Silent Shade") and does more damage than before
  • Other animal companions and Pale Master summons are a work in progress

MiscellaneousMisc

  • Henchmen in Mithlond & Rivendell fixed and working again; they follow the player again
    • Rivendell henchmen require level 15 to hire. They level up with your character, but their gear doesn't scale: they have +3 weapons and 15 physical damage resistance, and that's about it.
  • Rhudaur and Rilineldor beacon towers now have roof access, and you can rappel from the roof to the ground (quick exit)
  • Added loot chests to Herubar Gûlar
  • Added wind to several locations and skyboxes to Harlindon
  • New greathammer weapon type (two-handed hammer), with feats for it, including Weapon Master qualification. Basically a greataxe with blunt damage (1d12, crits 20/x3). Only one drop for now, with a forge version to follow.
  • Dire maces now have x3 crits by default (previously 20/x2)
  • Herbs can now be stacked (existing herbs need a swap at the altar)
  • Ring icons are being worked on, so some rings may show as a black square for now. This is temporary (you can exchange at the altar if you don't want to wait).
  • Caravan restrictions removed from the Bree and Rivendell caravans
  • Fog reduced in the Geshaan fortress maps and the Yellow Mountains - Tur Betark maps
  • Greatly reduced web placeables in Shelob's Lair due to lag
  • Dragon breath attacks/special abilities removed from boss dragons and other creatures, on suspicion that these newer animations cause client crashes when fighting them. The animation is also sometimes blocky/buggy. Report any creatures we missed with buggy/blocky breath attacks.
  • Numerous castle interiors reskinned to the new "dark" variant
  • More bosses updated to the master drop script
  • Numerous voice sets from NWN NPCs enabled during character creation
  • Store-sold belts and bracers in early areas:
    • Added slashing bracers to Bree
    • Belts and bracers now give 5 resistance in Bree and 10 in Rivendell
  • Other minor fixes/changes
